Current projects

These are the projects I am currently working on at The University of Queensland. They are all open: the code and materials are available on GitHub.

CALMaR: automated brain lesion mapping and reporting

Co-designed, Automated Lesion Mapping and Reporting · since 2026

CALMaR is an open-source pipeline that automatically segments stroke lesions on structural MRI, checks the quality of the results and produces a report that clinicians can interpret. It is being co-designed with the Metro North Health speech pathology team and people with lived experience of aphasia, to provide a privacy-first decision-support tool that helps guide intervention after stroke. The project is funded by a UQ EAIT Early Career Philanthropic Grant.

Neurodesk: open and reproducible neuroimaging

Core contributor · since 2025

Neurodesk is an open-source platform that packages more than 90 neuroimaging tools in containers. It runs on a laptop, on a computing cluster or directly in the browser. My work focuses on clinical translation, training and publishing reproducible analyses. Neurodesk received the 2025 AIIA iAward for Technology Platform of the Year.

Neurodesk workshop for multiple sclerosis

Training materials · 2026

A hands-on workshop for running reproducible multiple sclerosis neuroimaging analyses with Neurodesk, directly in the browser with Neurodesk Play – no installation needed.

WAGademy: a working accountability group for research students

Working Accountability Group · School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, UQ

WAGademy gives graduate research students three hours of protected, timed work alongside others doing the same, often preceded by a short themed discussion. The format, tools and a library of topics are documented online so that anyone can start their own group.
